I wanted to get this post out to you before you have family and friends over for Thanksgiving. This banner is an added must for the mantle or to hang on a china cabinet. You can make a bunch of the clothespins leafs and have your guests write what they are thankful for and then place it on the banner to display for the gathering. This is a great conversation starter to get your family to talk about what they are thankful for.
Here is the supplies you will need to complete the project, remember you can find crafty alternatives.
Supplies: Twine, burlap, clothespins, chalkboard spray paint, fabric paint, leaf-shaped wood cut outs and glue.
I decided to stain the clothespins to a darker color to add more interest with the colors. This is very easy to do if you decide to stain your clothespins.
I also decided to sew the flap for the banner instead of gluing. I did not want to mess with the drying glue and sometimes the mess I make when gluing things. Make sure if you glue the flap that you have enough room for the twine to slip through the opening. This will allow you to make your banner wider or narrow based on where you hang it.
I used black chalk paint so the chalk can be wiped off and used again. I would recommend buying a chalk pen, this will allow you to have a sharper point to write on a small area. I used a regular piece of chalk, so the writing is not so pretty.
I also added scrap material and ribbons to the ends for interest.
What are you grateful for? Please leave me comments to let me know what you are grateful for in your life!
